  3. Are past Studies available?
Yes, all previous editions of the study from LAI are avaialbe. Please see the Pricing tab for the past edition pricing matrix. There is a discount for multiple studies.

  4. What format is the Study delivered?
The Study (ies) are electronic via e-mail or CD and hard copy. Once payment is received, the study is sent out via e-mail or FedEx. All Excel files are live – no .pdf. This way, the client is free to cut the data as needed.

    Payment options:
The Study (ies) can be purchased a number of ways. LAI accepts Visa, MasterCard and American Express. If immediate access is needed, and payment is made via credit card, then all study files are e-mailed upon payment approval with a follow-up hard copy if desired. LAI will also accept a company check or wire transfer.

  5. How is the data presented?
The core data is presented in Microsoft Excel. The same fields and formats have bee used since the study was first completed by LAI in 1997. Therefore, it is easy to compile historical data. Potential areas of interest may be in supplier market share, steel versus aluminum share, wheel size migeration, or wheel finishes. All of these items and more can be done via the historical data.

  6. What data is in the Study?
The data starts with all light vehicles manufactured in the NAFTA region (North America). It is presented by vehicle manufacturer, make and model. Each wheel program is defined for those vehicles by material, size, description, finish and approximate share of installation or application rate.

  7. How is wheel share determined?
When the data is collected from either the wheel supplier or the vehicle manufacturer, each provides their best estimate of the application rate or number of wheels used. These application rates are then driven against a vehicle production forecast to determine the final number of each wheel that will be used for the vehicle model year.

  8. What is the vehicle model year?
All studies have been based on a “Production Model Year” as defined by CSM Worldwide (www.csmauto.com), a globally recognized leader in light vehicle forecasting. This production model year is from July 1st to to Jume 30th of the following year. So, for example, the 2009 Study would run from July 1, 2008 until June 30, 2009.

  9. What is different about the newsletter?
The newsletter that LAI publishes is a digest of news, peroviding the core information to make the reder aware of an event or news. It is not designed to be a complete news source, but to be read by executives that fo not have time to read and keep up with events and news in the automotive industry.
